Douglas

There is a sense of grandeur associated with Douglas. Standing up to 60 metres tall, Douglas fir is a majestic tree that attracts attention. The grand expression is preserved in the wooden floor planks, where the unique grain reflects nature’s greatness and beauty.

In addition to the diversity of the planks in terms of varieties and dimensions, each plank has its own unique fingerprint in the form of the beautiful grain. That gives you countless possibilities for adding a personal touch to your project. The cleanest and simplest expression is achieved with Dinesen Douglas. If you want a more authentic look, we recommend Dinesen Douglas Natural, which has more knots. We will do our best to help you choose. Please make an inquiry for a price list.

The exquisite Dinesen Douglas planks have a beautiful structure and a clean and simple expression. The planks are carefully selected to ensure that knots and grain combine to create a harmonious whole, both in the individual plank and in the interplay of planks in a floor or on a wall. Dimensions

The many different dimensions make it possible to support the architectural features. Full lengths may be a good option if the aim is clean lines, simplicity and minimalism, while historic planks are often used in renovation projects. Random lengths are an obvious choice when the aim is to achieve a smooth transition between rooms. We customise every single floor to match the character of the project, and we are happy to advice you of the many possibilities.
Dimensions

Full lengths

Full-length planks are an elegant and stylish choice, from palace or classic bungalow to a modern minimalist home. The clean lines create a calm and coherent look – also in small rooms – and can be used to support the architectural expression. The style is simple, clean and timeless. The Dinesen Douglas Natural variety makes for a more striking look. Depending on the requested type of flooring, the planks are available in lengths from 2.6 to 15 metres, widths from 20 to 45 centimetres and a thickness of 28 or 35 millimetres.

Historical planks

Full-length historical planks reflect a traditional method that has been used for hundreds of years in historic buildings. Each plank is made as wide as possible and thus follows the shape of the trunk – wider at the root than at the top. This enables us to use the raw wood very efficiently, and historical planks are therefore a solution where the respect for nature is reflected directly in the individual plank. The planks are laid root against top and produce an exciting, beautiful and characteristic floor. Historical planks are available in lengths from 2.6 to 15 metres, widths from 20 to 40 centimetres and a thickness of 28 or 35 millimetres.

Random lengths

Planks in random lengths create a fluid transition from room to room and a coherent expression that is perfect for a wide range of projects. The solution with random lengths also ensures the best possible utilization of the carefully selected wood, which means that you can enjoy contributing to making the use of the raw material more efficient. Each plank is made as long as possible. Depending on the requested type of flooring, the planks are available in lengths from 2 to 7 metres, widths from 15 to 45 centimetres and a thickness of 28 or 35 millimetres.

Finishes

Dinesen planks are delivered unfinished, which lets you choose the finish that is right for your project and your expectations of the floor. This also lets you add your personal touch to the colouring of the floor, as the same floor will look very differently whether it is finished with white soap or natural oil for example. Contact us for more specific advice.
Finishes

Soap

A soap-finished floor has a unique, light and Nordic expression. Depending on the use, the floor should be washed with floor soap two to four times a month to maintain the protective soap membrane. This will also keep the floor easy to clean and allow it to age beautifully. Most dents rise after washing. The colour tone can easily be adjusted by switching between white soap and natural soap. We recommend that you finish the floor with lye before applying the soap. A soaped floor does not require to be refinished, but it does in turn require dedication.
Soap

Oil

An oil-finished floor has a beautiful, warm and rich expression. The floor should simply be washed with floor soap as needed, as the oil finish seals the surface. In case of especially heavy wear, partial sections may be re-finished with oil as needed. The entire floor should be regularly refinished with a new coat of oil to maintain the seal. An oil finish makes it possible to choose between a variety of colours. Please note that the floor needs to be sanded and refinished if you wish to change the colour. We offer a choice of natural, light or white oil.
