Hidden under The Royal Danish Library in Aarhus, lies an 800 m2 basement which has undergone an extensive reconstruction. What was previously an archive for old journals and publications has now been transformed into a modern study environment by Arkitema Architechts.

The largest of the cellar rooms is decorated with organic shapes, ranging from the round work tables and curved Ant chairs to the arched leather sofas and circular work zones, which can be shielded with heavy curtains in beige and pink shades.
The different zones are emphasized by the remarkable floor in Dinesen Oak Pattern, laid in a classic herringbone pattern. The sweeping shape of the floor is elegantly framed by a 10-centimetre-wide curved frieze, also in Dinesen Oak. To create a living expression in the herringbone pattern, a mix consisting of 50% Oak Natural and 50% Oak Classic has been used.
