On a quiet stretch of Denmark’s coastline, this modern holiday home pays tribute to the simple, low-tech character of traditional summer houses. At the same time, it embodies the timeless architectural simplicity that defines Rotterdam-based Dutch architect Pieter Kleinmann.

The minimalist palette of natural and low-maintenance materials is carefully selected for the waterfront environment: the durable Western Red Cedar roof and cladding resist salty air and will gradually develop a cool grey patina.
Inside, wide-plank Dinesen oak flooring and oak wall panelling create a refined and cohesive atmosphere.
With a focus on togetherness, the layout prioritizes the spacious living, kitchen, and dining area, which opens onto the terrace and a direct path to the sea.
A cozy dining nook and custom-built bunk beds merge functionality with aesthetics, while relaxed safari chairs and deep sofas provide comfort. Thoughtfully crafted details, such as bronze door handles, enhance the home’s tactile experience.
During summer, natural light floods the interior, and the deep roof overhang casts cool shade onto the terrace. During the raw, grey winter months, underfloor heating and warm natural materials create a serene and protective retreat.
