The family desired more space, and therefore redesigned their house to incorporate a terrace, a kitchen and a dining space, making the garden a unified part of the new extension. This was a massive reconstruction that lasted about a year. And the result is evident – a modern house oozing of personality and history.

The house is renovated with great respect for the environment. This is clearly reflected by values that James also find important in his professional life, namely awareness about the environment, sustainability and creativity. This is apparent in the choice of energy source – the solar energy contributes to low energy consumption. The solid plank flooring from Dinesen has been installed throughout the house. The family chose to install floor heating and is very pleased that it works so well with the plank floors. Several details, such as staircases and banisters, are made from Dinesen Douglas.

The ground floor contains two living rooms en suite, and in the beautiful extension of patinated copper there is a large bright kitchen with room for family gatherings. On the first floor there is a library, a bathroom and the children's rooms. On the top floor you find an office, a walk-in-closet and a bedroom with related bathroom.

James is very fond of ceramics and has been collecting different creations for nearly 30 years. Among other things, his collection includes a beautiful pot by Hans Coper who is known for his abstract creations, which are often displayed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
