The exhibition Plain Space opened at the Design Museum in London in 2010, showing a body of work while communicating the distinctive atmosphere of John Pawson’s architecture. Using subtle changes in the gallery space alongside a site-specific installation - a building within a building - as key elements, it enabled intimate engagement with the real matter of space. A carefully selected Dinesen Douglas fir from the Schwarzwald Forest in Germany played a central role in the exhibition.
